Controlling Legionella pneumophila in water systems at reduced hot water temperatures with copper and silver ionization
This study, originally published in the American Journal of Infection Control, describes the 6-year experience of using copper-silver ionization for primary control of Legionella in the absence of traditional temperature control recommendations. In the United Kingdom, where this study was conducted, the Department of Health recommends maintaining hot water temperatures above 55°C, and cold water temperatures below 20°C at the point of delivery to prevent proliferation of Legionella in water systems.
